At least 30 people were killed in a Russian strike on a commuter bus in eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials.

The attack came a day after another Russian strike hit an apartment building well behind the combat zone, killing 22 people.

Combined, the two attacks brought the reported death toll to at least 52 over two days, highlighting the continuing danger faced by civilians in areas both near and far from active fighting.

The incidents were reported by The New York Times, citing officials.
