The BBC is to axe You and Yours, Radio 4's consumer rights programme, after more than 50 years on air. The decision forms part of the corporation's £500m cuts plan.
The programme was previously described by former Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer as one of the station's most important shows. Its closure marks a significant reduction in Radio 4's long-established consumer and public-service output.
Thinking Allowed, The Artificial Human and Free Thinking are also among programmes affected by the changes, according to a report by The Guardian.
The broadcaster is seeking formats that can be more readily adapted into podcasts, reflecting a wider push to reach audiences through on-demand audio alongside traditional radio scheduling.
