High school students in France resumed school blockades and marches on Thursday, saying they would continue their campaign despite government commitments to address concerns that have driven 10 days of demonstrations.
The protests have centred on calls for greater investment in education and what participants describe as concrete measures to improve conditions in schools. Teachers have also joined the mobilisation in several areas.
Demonstrations were reported in Lille, Rennes, Nantes, Lyon, Toulon and Marseille. In Paris, a procession moved through the city centre before reaching Place de la Bastille, according to reporting by The Guardian.
Most of Thursday's demonstrations were peaceful, though the wider protest period has left hundreds of people injured. Students say official assurances have not resolved their concerns and that pressure will continue until they see tangible changes.
